1 • Why do my contact lenses seem to dry out while I am wearing them and what can I do to prevent it?

The surface of the contact lens may develop dry patches, especially late in the day. These dry patches interact with the eyelids, causing a scratchy, gritty, almost itchy sensation. They also interact with tear proteins, which can make the lens dirty. The dry spots can actually repel rewetting drops, which is why rewetting drops are seldom an adequate fix.

It is best to prevent dry patches from developing on the lens surface in the first place but, when these dry patches form, one way to get rid of them is to condition the lens.
OPTI-FREE® RepleniSH® has been proven to recondition the lens surface to retain moisture.
